Our Mission
At Chengdu Travel Guide, our mission is to provide overseas tourists with accurate, up-to-date, and comprehensive information about Chengdu, China. We help visitors from around the world discover the incredible food, fascinating history, relaxed culture, and stunning nearby scenery that make Chengdu one of China's most beloved cities.
We understand that traveling to a new country can be overwhelming, especially when language barriers and cultural differences come into play. That's why we've created this guide — to bridge that gap and ensure your Chengdu experience is smooth, enjoyable, and unforgettable.
Our Contributors
Chengdu Travel Guide is produced by a collective of Chengdu natives, long-term residents, and China travel specialists writing under the shared pen name "Chengdu Travel Guide". Our contributors include:
- Lao Wei (老魏) — Born and raised in Chengdu's Wuhou district. Food writer who has eaten at over 500 Chengdu restaurants and maintains a mental map of the city's best "fly restaurants" (苍蝇馆子). If you eat well in Chengdu, you're following in his footsteps.
- Zhang Min (张敏) — Sichuan opera performer turned cultural guide. She's staged face-changing shows across China and now writes about the art form, teahouse traditions, and the folk culture that makes Chengdu unique.
- David T. — Australian expat since 2018. Arrived for a three-week trip and never left. Specializes in visa logistics, airport navigation, and helping first-time China visitors avoid the mistakes he made.
- Li Jie (李洁) — Travel photographer who has visited all 21 prefectures across Sichuan province. Her photos of Jiuzhaigou's turquoise lakes and Mount Emei's golden summit have been featured in China Daily and CGTN.
- Sarah K. — Family travel editor who tests every attraction with kids in tow. If a panda base visit works for a six-year-old without meltdowns, she gives it the family seal of approval.
We don't use AI-generated filler or stock-photo descriptions. Every article reflects pooled firsthand experience, verified against official sources, and updated when things change. If a price moves, a restaurant relocates, or a new metro line opens, we fix it.
Editorial Standards
Like all reputable China travel guides, we follow E-E-A-T guidelines (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness):
- Every recommendation is based on personal visits — we don't recommend places we haven't been.
- Prices and hours are verified within the last 12 months. If we can't verify, we note the uncertainty.
- We disclose affiliations. We don't accept payment for reviews or recommendations.
- Corrections are welcome. If something is wrong, tell us — we'll fix it within 48 hours.
This guide exists because Chengdu deserves better than generic travel listicles. It's a city with depth — 2,300 years of continuous history, a food culture that rivals any in the world, and a pace of life that rewards slowing down. We're here to help you experience all of it.
